Another Day

It's been a pretty uneventful day, at least here. I guess there was an earthquake near here last night, but I'd sleep through a rave in may apartment, if there ever was one.

On another note, at least being single isn't that strange in this state.

Album of the Day

After seeing Fahrenheit 9/11, I'd have to say the album of the day is London Calling (scroll down to #2). I'm pissed off in an optimistic, fight-the-power sort-of way.

Fahrenheit 9/11

I just saw Michael Moore's documentary Fahrenheit 9/11. I biked to to the theater on the west side of town an hour before the first showing and found 30 people there. I got in line and then asked if anyone knew if the first showing was sold out. A man told me that all of the showings that day were sold out. A friend I was going with met me at the theater and drove me back to my place. I checked on line and the theater on the east side was showing that tickets were available. We went and found out that only the 7:30 showing was sold out. We got in line, with only four people ahead of us. By the time we went in, it was sold out and the line stretched back at least three theaters, if not more. Then it was backed up when we got out. I read that estimates show its #1 on Friday, despite not being in the most theaters. Some even think it will break the documentary box office record (Bowling for Columbine at about $20 mil. I think) in the first weekend.

What do I have to say about the film? I didn't think it was possible to loathe the shrub** (lower case intended) more than I do now, but I was as wrong as I have ever been. I had mixed feelings about Bowling for Columbine and I know of Michael Moore's way of distorting things. He did it some in this film, but there is so much just put there where even commentary either way couldn't change the way you feel. All I can say is that I'm taking the Wednesday after the elections off because I'll need time to recover from the joy/misery beer drinking from the night before.



** This site was a great parody site against the shrub's 2000 election site. At first glance, it looked the same. The shrub was pissed about the whole deal, too. Unfortunately, it's not updated anymore, but fortunately, the creators are working in other ways to change things.

Another Day

I started out today in a good mood. Somehow, little things have conspired against me to make it only a so-so day. I can't find a internet station playing any music I want to listen to, the phone is ringing incessantly, and I've lost all concentration. Well, I am having lunch with my sister today. Hmmm... I better call her since we haven't set a place or time.

Album of the Day

I had to take a short drive to pick something up from work. Mambo Sun popped up on my iPod, and that song always puts me in a sort-of upbeat, optimistic mood. So Electric Warrior is the Album of the Day.

Another Day

It's another day in the office. I read about all the damage the storm did last night. I was walking back from WORT and stopped for a beer and dinner. I was stranded for a while since the storm started up after I got there. The wind was so strong it started up a jeep's car alarm. I managed to get home when a short respite came. It's still raining to day and only in the 50's, so I think I will not be going for that planned bike ride.

Kick ass, Bitchin' Camaro popped up on the on-line radio station I'm listening to. I haven't heard this one in a while.

Something is definetly wrong.....

After the whole Gaelic quiz I did earlier, I decided to watch Fight Club. Somehow, both my roommate's copy and my copy have disappeared. I've decided to watch The Prisoner. I've been digging through it once again. Maybe this took them.
