Another Week

Another week has passed since I've posted. So I've been up to... I went up to Minnesota to visit my friends. I picked up their kiddo at Hamline after buy too much (is that possible) vinyl at Agharta Records. I picked up: Lost in Translation Soundtrack Pilgrim/Surfer Rosa - The Pixies Pink Moon - Nick Drake Songs of Leonard Cohen Songs in the Key of Life - Stevie Wonder The Cars first album The Virgin Suicides - Air Duke Ellington & John Coltrane American Water - Silver Jews The guys at the counter complimented me on my taste or maybe my spending habits. Either is fine. We managed to catch the Northfield No Kings Rally and watch Death Becomes Her. I've also managed to by a mount for my camera to take good pictures of photographs, ordered two yards of dirt and three yards of mulch, made minestrone soup, and watched a couple of good movies. I need to write more oftern.

Through Another's Eyes

My nephew was diagnosed with autism back at the end of the 90's when the broader public didn't have much of an idea with it. When I would tell friends I would say like Dustin Hoffman in Rainman. Looking back, that's a really simplistic example. It just shows where we were not that long ago. Safe to say I learned a lot about people and especially myself learning through how he saw the world. We are a lot alike and I understood more of my quirks with him in my life. On Saturday, we went to the opening of the Morex Music Machine Museum in Pleasant Prarie in the southeast of the state near the Illinois border. Sam is someone he met online through their shared love of The House on the Rock, especially all of the music rooms featuring contraptions built at the turn of the century. The family was kind and graceous and Sam a great host. I wouldn't have seen something like this if not for my nephew.

Insurance Claim

A couple came to test drive my car. Everything went well and they were considering buying it. I needed to take it somewhere and jumped in to head out. The car wouldn't turn over, but it did start rolling down the hill. The steering kind of worked, but the brakes wouldn't. Then I remembered I didn't renew my subscription for features as I didn't need them and I was selling it anyway. So down the hill I rolled, maneuvering around cars as I sped up. Another car was ahead of me towards the end of the hill, but two semis were coming side by side on a residential street. I crashed into the car, but they drove off. I turned my car and for somehow it started rolling back up the hill. I made it back to my house and the car lost momentum and stopped. Pierce Brosnan came out the door and started spreading weeds and seeds all over my large vegetable garden. I told him what happend and he told me tough shit.

Web 1.0!

 So, here I am back here. Safe to say that Web 2.0 sucks and Web 3.0 can't figure out if it is the metaverse, blockchain, AI or all three sponsored by cryptocoins. All a way to say I want something calmer with less noise. I expect the readers of this continuation of brain farts to be approximately zero, but I'm doing this for me.

I'm watching Heavenly Creatures for the first time in, uh, a decade and a half? Still my favorite Peter Jackson film. I remember seeing it at this small second-floor theater in Nottingham when I studied there. It was a double bill with a film called Suture. Still feel a lot of darkness in this one. I think in the 90's I was more a fan of Kate Winslet, minus Titanic, which is overrated with crappy acting. Now, Melanie Lynskey. She makes everything she is in better. No slight on Kate Winslet of course.
