Dullville

I had an open night last night, so I thought would be able to catch up on some reading and my application to Edgewood. I went to Bongo Video and picked up “Dogville”. I should have read the reviews. It sucked and it wasted three hours of my time. It pretty much drained any ambition I had to read, write, or do anything productive. That’s 0/2 for Lars Von Trier. At least the two in the basement in “The Kingdom” were amusing in an unintended way. Beware all: Von Trier is Von Dogshit.

On a brighter note, I have another somewhat open night ahead of me. I need to keep going to the gym. I stay the same weight no matter what, but my fat/muscle ratio changes. Then I have to write the scripts for the kiosk and there’s only another month of that. Then I can get my "why I'd make a good candidate" essay done and read some. Or maybe get a beer. No movies though.

Honking

There was some dipshit blaring music and repetively honking his horn to get some other dipshit to come out of his apartment. I tried to yell down for him to turn it down. Either he couldn't hear me or he ignored me. So:

1. If you're going to blare music from you car, get a decent sound system.
2. Get your lazy ass out of your car and knock on the other lazy asshole's door.

And some people wonder why they get no respect. Secret: it's earned.

The Streets Are A'Buzz

I headed downtown to get a new pair of shoes and found the streets crawling with bland, affable suburbanites. Not only was downtown hosting the weekly farmer's market, but the new Overture Center had an open house, some run/walk deal was amassing people at street corners, REAP had a festival on MLK Jr. Boulevard, and the Willy Street Festival is starting soon.

I wasn't impressed with the Overture Center. It's nice in a bland sort of way. They had some dancing totem heads and mimes there. Both were creepy, in the hiding-under-your-bed sort of way. The REAP festival was kind of small and the run/walk wasn't compelling. Soon, there will be beer and bands on the nearest main drag. I need that after this last week at work.

Cusine

I was in the shower, washing the day's heat off, trying to figure out where I wanted to get dinner. The Harmony is great, but didn't sound good today. Bunky's is good, but not for one. Monty's didn't sound good; neither did Wonders Pub. I think Willaby's is closed and I couldn't think of anything I'd want there. I'm tired of Willy Street Coop's deli and Jolly Bob's atmosphere didn't fit my mood. I don't want Thai or Laotian. Bon Apetite would be good if I had someone to go with. Beyond that, I'm walking further than I care to. So now I'm eating the fine cusine of Subway while staring at the Capitol Building and listening to some stereo blaring blues.

So it is.

Cackling Girls

I'm here at Mother Fool's Coffeehouse in the back corner. I like it here since I can get my drink and do whatever while good music plays and people are around. Tonight there is a show and it's a bit packed. I was up front, but some creepy-looking girl kept staring at me and then their giddy, cackling frie(n)ds showed up. Their shrill chatter pierced my ears, which is amazing. I've killed 95% of my high range hearing due to years of heavy metal followed by years of punk with The Who constant through it all. I hate cackling girls, maybe even more than rednecks. I was about to leave when I remembered the back room where no one but yours truly is. It's a great respite.

I dug through the CDs I'm trading in. For years, I've put my receipts in the back of the jewel cases. I found one from July 11, 1992 in one. I think I'll dump all of them in the near future. They take up space and I have them all ripped. Yeah, there's the support-the-artist argument to buying CDs. Well, if I can work out how to convert AAC files into mp3s, I can pay the artist and not have all those CDs sitting around. God, I've got to have $8,000.00 or more worth at the prices I've bought them. Smoking would be cheaper, at least in the short run.

I now have company in my oasis. They're not too.. ooh, they may be leaving.... one has a ringing cell phone; BAD.... nope, they're sitting down. Crap.

I didn't have any readers for The Revolution on Wednesday night. That pissed me off. Usually, someone else organized readers, but this is twice in one month. I'll have to take care of at least one reader myself. That's another thing I'm doing tonight; working on a replacement website for the link above. I don't know how to get it to the right hands, though.

That damn putz keeps talking on his cell phone.

I should get back to doing what I wasn't doing before.

Auf Weidersehn.

Random Musings

All in all, I had a good weekend. Nothing overly exciting happened. Last night, Shaun, Tom and I went to the Crystal Corner Bar at about 11 pm. We discussed such important topics as 80's tv shows, what our *bot personalities would be, and silver dollar-sized moles. Two women wandered in after midnight and we exchanged glances with them, not that anyone was going to do anything. Shaun though we should buy them some ice water. We asked the bartender, but he wouldn't take it out to them, since they don't do table service plus he was collect last-call orders. The other bartender poured us two glasses full and we took them over. Somewhat to my surprise, they didn't get at all offended by it and saw it as the joke we intended to be. In fact, I think they were happy to get the water. At least some people get our sense of humor.

I wonder what Amanda is doing.

I packed up my cds today. I almost never play them. I either play music off of my ipod or my computer. I siphoned off about 10 to 20% of my collection for trade-in. I can't quite part with the rest at this moment. Some of them go back almost 15 years. Still, why keep things you don't use around? I need to dig through my old coats, too.

*****************

Michael or Shari: I forgot to return your "Kill Bill Vol. 2" and "Van Helsing" ticket stubs last weekend. I will do so in the future.

This game is kind of fun. You can catch chickens and choke them!

I best get to studying for my GMAT. Such is the cap to my weekend.

They're For You

At least, that's what my niece said when she put two gummy worms on my desk. They were somewhat tasty. That capped a much better day than yesterday. I got a lot done and had minimal interruptions.

I'm at http://www.blogger.com/img/gl.link.gifWORT , finishing my bit of the revolution. Should that be a capital "R" or a lower case one? Somehow, I think a lower case one is more appropriate. It's less formal and more accessible. Or so I think.

Anyway, it's beer time. Or vodka time. Or something like that.

Piss off.

Down the Road with Linux

About a week ago my System76 computer arrived at my doorstep. I'm getting a bit fed up with the graft and bloat of Big Tech, so I'm...
