The Jig Has Been Up for Awhile

I really hoped that Obama would begin the decommissioning of the American Empire. I never thought that he would take a giant step in that direction, but he would apply the brakes to it's expansion. Tragically, he's under the same delusion as his predecessor. Afghans want self-determination and no amount of schools, vaccines or roads will change that.

The tragedy of this reality is that it would have taken no highly classified intelligence data or deeply penetrating brain power to predict its occurrence. A week’s reading at the local library about the occupations of Afghanistan by Alexander the Great, the British Empire and the Soviet Union shows each empire was sooner or later defeated and evicted—Alexander lasted longest because he built Greek colonies—by the most basic Afghan trait which has been transparently and overwhelmingly dominant since the 4th century B.C.: Afghans refuse to tolerate foreign occupation and rule.

Off to South America

This dream is a bit muddled, but it started at the park where I played my little league games. My game was in what looked like a dugout (just not dugout) with a roof and all. The whole game was played in there and our pitcher was terrible. The other team kept running past him to first, and only, base and then back home. We inevitably lost and our (random dream) coach was pissed. I asked him why we played on a partial field and he didn't answer.

Then I was at a ballpark watching the Brewers play the Astros/Cubs as the opponent switched back an forth. The Brewers were ahead. The ballpark looked like it could hold maybe 5,000 people and most of the stands were behind the outfield.

Then I was at my old elementary school in Sun Prairie. There was an evil(?) black car about two feet long and a good red convertible one. Then Lady Gaga was being interviewed while sitting on the red car. She had dark hair that looked like a wig but didn't turn out to be one. She didn't look like the real Lady Gaga. Then some evil spirit told the black car to stop and got out a truck with a back hoe although the back how looked more like a clamping digger. The truck then trenched around the playground looking for a body. Then I was in the car with Lady Gaga chasing the black truck to stop it. We ran it over a few times and then headed off to South America.

Women With Women?

Hmmm... maybe the bible isn't so homophobic:

Ruth 1:15-18

15 Then she said, "Behold, your sister-in-law has gone back to her people and her gods; return after your sister-in-law."

16 But Ruth said, "Do not urge me to leave you or turn back from following you; for where you go, I will go, and where you lodge, I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God, my God.

17 "Where you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. Thus may the LORD do to me, and worse, if anything but death parts you and me."

18 When she saw that she was determined to go with her, she said no more to her.

Doctor Mengele Would Be Proud

This entry shows exactly why we need a comprehensive investigation into torturing during the Bush years. I can't even say if it has stopped as we are still involved all over the world doing the same thing under Obama that we did under Bush. The only difference is that Obama doesn't have to start anything as the last administration provided enough to keep the security establishment going for years.

If there was careful measuring of methods and effects, this isn't a few bad apples but institutionalized war crimes.

As It Should Be

Sometimes things just work out better. A softball team playing a brand new one with little equipment and no experience stops the game and uses the time to help out the new team.

Life As It Is

It's kind of nice to finally use my laptop for the excuse I bought it for. Speaking of, is anyone looking for a kick-ass laptop? Anyway...

In the "What the Fuck!?! Oh yeah, it's just Pat", I finished the original Degrassi series. Yeah, it's hokie, but the characters were the same age that I was at the time. The look of things was familiar with lots of big hair and mullets. The only difference was instead of saying "ruht" and "fir", they said "aboot". The complete series of Daria arrived this last week, so I'll dig through that to pass time and remember why I hate humanity, mostly because I can relate to a cartoon than most people. On a more respectable note, I ordered the Modern Lovers album and Meat Puppets II on vinyl.

Louie has ennui and a black beard. He could have an impacted digestive system or maybe I need to get a new UV light. I'll take him into the vet this week. If I get the same vet as when I took Leopold in, she'll think I'm a terrible owner. Aaagghhh!

I'm tired, I'll post more tomorrow.

Bo Knows Hockey

So a co-worker came into my office this morning as I have the communal mini fridge. It went like this:

Me: The Red Wings won last night. I'm not happy about that.

Her: Who are they?

Me: The Red Wings? You don't know who they are?

Her: No, who are they?

Me: The Red Wings?

Her: Haha!

Me: The Detroit Red Wings?

Her: Oh! I don't follow baseball.

Me: Leave.

Down the Road with Linux

About a week ago my System76 computer arrived at my doorstep. I'm getting a bit fed up with the graft and bloat of Big Tech, so I'm...
